"Yeah why don't you just go cry to your stupid fairy friends!" Another kid yelled and soon enough you were following the sounds of their screaming down the hall where you found a group of kids picking on a kid you recognized from your class; Arthur Kirkland (England).
"Leave him alone!" you found yourself yelling as you came to his rescue.
At the time you had no idea why you saved him, it just seemed like the right thing to do. The kids all looked at you and laughed, but you stood your ground, your older brother had taught you how to fight, and you weren't afraid to hurt anyone.
"And why do you care so much?" One kid asked.
"Yeah, why stand up for a kid who still has imaginary friends?" The other asked.
"Because he's mien (my) friend!" you said crossing your arms. "Now leave him alone before I call my big brothers!"
And with that threat the group ran off leaving you alone in the hallway with Arthur who was still sitting in the floor in a ball. You got down on his level to make sure he wasn't hurt.
"Are you okay?" You asked and he looked up at you, tears in his green eyes.
"W-why'd you stand up for me like that? N-now they're going to start messing with you too," He said completely ignoring your question.
You shrugged; they didn't scare you. Not many people did, but then again when you're raised by Gilbert and Ludwig Belishmidt you had no reason to be afraid of people.
"Vell I'd like to see zhem try," You said holding your hand out and helping him up. "I meant vhat I said zhough," you said softly as you looked down out of embarrassment. "I vant to be friends... if zhat's okay vith you."
"Really?" Arthur asked and you nodded. "I'd like that... friends. I finally have a friend," He said smiling and making you giggle a bit.
"Come on I'll valk home vith you," you said and he nodded before you left the school, happier then you had ever been because now you hopefully had a friend who would be with you forever and always.
"___________," Arthur called snapping you out of your little daze as you looked up at him. "The bell just rang, are you planning on sleeping here tonight?"
"Nein (no)," you said rolling your eyes as you stood up, gathering your stuff up before you walked out of the classroom with your best friend.
"So are we still good for tonight?" He asked making you look at him confused.
Had you really been that out of it? You looked at him in confusion before you realized you had planned a dinner/movie night with each other to celebrate your tenth year of being friends. How could you have forgotten that?
"Ja (yes), of course. I vouldn't miss zhat for zhe vorld," you said smiling.
"Good," Arthur said seeming to trail off in thoughts of his own making you wonder what he was planning.
You both walked in silence for the remainder of the trip only speaking again when you got to your house.
"I'll be here at 5," Arthur said and you nodded before you gave him a hug and watched him walk off until you couldn't see him anymore.
Once Arthur was out of eye shot you ran into your house almost running smack over your older brother Ludwig.
"Bruder (brother) you have to help me, please!" you begged, clinging to him.
"Vhat in the-- vhat's going on?" He asked confused.
"Arthur und I are having our yearly dinner to celebrate our friendship, but I like him a lot und I vant us to be more so how do I ask him?" you asked looking up at him with big puppy dog eyes.
"Vhy in zhe vorld vould I know zhe anwser?" Ludwig asked, a bit taken back.
"Vell I just figured since you und Feli are a zh--" you started to say before he cut you off.
"Alright! Alright! Alright! I'll help you just shut it before zhat dummkopf (idiot) Gilbert hears you!" Ludwig said looking around before he let off a sigh making you smile.
After Ludwig finally peeled you off of him he instructed you to go get ready then he would help you. You hurried up the stairs, more nervous then you had ever been. You looked through your closet trying to find something that was nice, but not too nice. You finally picked out a sundress that you had worn to school once. Once you were fully dressed you fixed your hair, but you decided against make up thinking that would make this seem too formal. After you were all done you hurried down stairs where Ludwig had you sit on the couch as he paced in front of you trying to decide what to say.
"Vell?" you asked looking from your brother to the clock. "Arthur vill be here in ten minutes. Big bruder (brother) you have to help me!"
"Okay vell first of all getting all panicky vill not help, it just freaks guys out. Und don't be too clingy zhat's veird too," he said making you giggle.
"You just say zhat because Feli likes hugs," you said making him turn a bright shade of red, but before he could retaliate, there was a knock on the door and you bolted to get it, not even bothering to say bye to your brothers. "Artie it's you."
"Yes, it is," he said chuckling a bit at your nickname for him. "You look lovely, love, not that you don't look lovely all the time," Arthur said and you noticed he seemed to be a bit nervous.
"Danke (thank you)," you said shutting the door to your house behind you.
"Ready to go?" Arthur asked and you nodded happily before you followed Arthur to his car, happily getting in as he opened the door for you.
"So vhere are ve going zhis year?" you asked as he got into the drivers side.
"A place," he teased making you pout. "You'll see... Don't fret, I'm sure you'll like it."
You nodded and soon you arrived at the park. You tilted your head at him confused, but he just came around and opened your door, before he reached in the back retrieving a blanket and a picnic basket before he lead you to a hill where you could watch the sunset. You looked at the basket a bit worried that he had cooked--er tried to cook-- but he assured you that his brothers had helped him, which eased your worry.
After you had both eaten, you were sitting side-by-side watching the sun, when Arthur finally spoke again.
"____________, we've been friends for 10 years now. We've been through everything it seems," Arthur said making you smile and nod as you look at him, his bright emerald eyes glimmering in the setting sun.
"Ja (yes) you can say zhat again," you said remembering your many fun times together.
"I-I have been wanting to ask you this for a long time, but I've always been afraid too," Arthur admitted making you give him a confused look before he took in a deep breath and took one of your hands into his. "___________ Belishmidt, I love you a-and I wanted to know if you would do me the honor of becoming my one and only."
"A-are you asking me to be your girlfriend?" you stammered completely shocked as he nodded nervously before you smiled. "J-ja (y-yes_, I'd love to."
"R-really?" he asked like so many years ago and you did the same as you had done then you nodded, a huge grin on your face before he smiled back and leaned in stopping right before he reached your lips, but you quickly closed the gap and pressed your lips against his.
It was a picture perfect ending to a picture perfect day. You finally had the guy of your dreams as more then just your best friend; you were now his and he was now yours. Forever and always.
